On our run this morning we stopped in front of the fire station to watch the guys as they did maintenance on all the trucks. One of them spotted us and hopped up in the engine and turned all the lights on for Marek! He invited us in and soon Marek was surrounded by a handful of firemen who were oogling after him and listening to him babble away. One of them hoisted him up in the drivers seat and gave him a badge! I'm pretty sure this is heaven for a little boy. They got a call and so we had to go but they said we can stop by any time the doors are open to see the trucks and tour around the firehouse on a slow day.

Counting Cars
Marek loves cars and trucks! It finally hit him. We bought the movie "Cars" and he's watched it countless times already. He carries his fire engine with him wherever he goes and he drives his little cars up and down my arms and legs. This video is a few weeks old but I thought I'd post it anyway. He is learning how to count and it reminds me of the story my parents always tell about my brother, Rudy, counting the telephone poles as they drove by, "by, deep, by, deep, by, deep."

This week Matt left again for work. Unfortunately, this trip is yet again on the other side of the planet and the communication is minimal but we are fortunate that he is able to get DP time on a ship and he is also sailing as Second Mate! It was difficult as usual to say goodbye but I had less anxiety than last time because we had a few days to prepare for his departure. We are trying to fill up our calendar with play dates and fun things. I am also taking care of lots of business and projects around the house to get ready to list it this fall! We expect Matt to get home mid-August and it will be another BUSY vacation. He will be spending one week in Houston for his DP2 class, two weeks as a family in Florida again for another upgrade course and we will also start our home buying search and list our house in hopes to have a closing date of December 31st! We are not sure how selling/buying/moving will all work out with Matt's work schedule but we are praying that everything falls into place and we will be Minnesota residents in a half years time!
