Moving Forward

Our baby turned six-months-old this week. To mark the momentous occasion, he surprised us with a new skill. See CRAWLING baby!

I think his legs are so chubby it's hard to bend them but he's got the army crawl down pretty well after just a couple of days. I think it's almost time to baby proof this old house!

We are so happy that summer is here and we've all been spending a lot of time outside. Our garden is planted and everything is starting to come up! Matt tilled up a section of yard behind our garage where the grass never grows very well and planted some trellised cucumbers along with some garlic for crock pickles this year. Our raspberries have spread a little from last year and our compost pile is almost ready to add to the garden. There is still a lot of yard work and house work to do but I'm trying to relax and just enjoy what little time we have together as a family. We've grilled out a couple of times this year, once with a childhood friend and her husband, and we wish that we could do that more with friends (you're all welcome any time! We love to cook!) Today Marek and I went to the farmers market together for the first time and bought fresh eggs, cheese curds, some veggies, lamb and then a snack from the Hmong families for lunch. I also made a rhubarb pie from the leftover rhubarb that my sister brought this week when they came to be with Marek one day while I was at work. Marek loves his cuzzies so much! Watching Evangeline waddle around the house got me excited for next year when Marek will be doing the same.

Speaking of cuzzies...
We welcomed TWO new stinky girls into the family last month! They aren't really stinky at all, in fact they smell like heaven and both have thick heads of hair. Maebelina and Veronika were born six days apart and we got to be there to see Baby Maybe come into the world! Marek has so many new friends this year! His cousin Levi was born in February and Momma's friend also had a baby boy in April, baby Eli. We used to talk about having and raising kids together, it's hard to believe that it is happening!

One more friend baby is on the way this fall and we can't wait to meet him/her! Who is next!?

We are excited to say that Matt got a new job! It's a step up (or ten) from what he is currently doing and he is looking forward to see where it could take him. We are still waiting to see what sailing jobs may come up through his union but in the meantime, he will have every other weekend off to enjoy together! We are looking forward to taking Marek up to the cabin for the first time and to spend time with his other cuz, Mason!

The Buddy is calling, gotta run!
