I Can Tell That We Are Gonna Be Friends

Our sweet little Evangeline turned one this weekend! Happy birthday, Lina! We had fun playing with you last weekend. Marek, who decided a couple weeks ago that he's shy to anyone besides Momma, Daddy, and babysitter Ashley, thought that Evangeline was hilarious...a mini person just like him! Evangeline and Marek are Godcousins; Matt and I are her Godparents and Laura and Butch are Marek's Crazygodparents.

We are not too fond of this shyness thing. Anytime someone "new" comes around the pouty lip comes out and he clings to us and cries until they go away. If they aren't going anywhere then he'll put up a stink until he decides they are worthy of his smiles (it usually doesn't take too long). I've read that this is a common thing for babies this age but if I were the Papas, I'd be sad too! I think we just need to get him out more around people and family. Grandma and Papa got to see their little buddy twice this week. Marek eventually warmed up to his Papa and did what Papa loves best...tugged on his beard :)

Marek and I are having a chill weekend after a stressful (for Momma) week. We are making some yummy meals for Daddy when he gets home from work and are starting to pack for Arizona! While I've been packing and doing laundry, Marek has been exploring the limits of his body. He figured out how to pull his socks off and roll over this weekend! The first time he did it was yesterday. I went to grab the clothes from the dryer and when I returned he was on his tummy. I've watched him come close but I have still yet to see it with my own eyes. I just laid him down for his nap (on his back) and when I went to check on him...belly again! Little sneak!

On Wednesday morning we'll be on our way to sunny Sun City, Arizona! We are all in need of a vacation and we are looking forward to spending it with family. Have a great Holy Week and a happy Easter, we'll see you when we return!

Baby Talk

A quick post before I hit the sack (and try to catch up on sleep from a four-month-old baby who is sleeping like a four-week-old baby). We are really enjoying the 40+ degree weather and our new stroller. Marek loves looking around at the things in our neighborhood and chewing on the stroller harness before eventually falling asleep. The fresh air does us both some good!

We also tried out a couple baby tools this weekend; the Johnny Jump-Up and the "twirly round." He was not so sure about the Johnny Jump-Up but really likes the twirly round although he gets upset that all the toys on it are connected and therefore he can't reach them into his mouth. He is really liking being upright and a little more independent and Momma and Daddy actually ate dinner together at the table for the first time in a long time while he kept himself occupied.

When I got home from work tonight we nursed and cuddled and spend a good amount of time staring at each other while Marek touched and grabbed different parts of my face. He was so focused and fascinated and sweet I about loved him to death. I can't believe God gave me such a perfect little creature. I've waited my whole life for him but I could have never imagined how amazing he would be.

This video is just for Grandma and Papa. Marek is telling them a story about how he missed them last weekend and all the things he did with Momma while Daddy was at work. At the end he says, "I can't wait to see you this weekend!"
